A country music legend and seven-time Grammy winner will arrive in Appleton this spring to accept an award for his film contributions.
Randy Travis will be on hand in Appleton to accept an honor as part of the National Independent Film Awards. The awards program will be held as part of The Film Forte, which will take place on April 30 through May 3.
Both the awards and the overall film event are the work of Dan Davies, an Appleton resident and actor who’s had his own share of accomplishments.
The Film Forte made its debut in October and is making a quick turnaround for its second year.
Travis, who has acted in more than 50 films and television episodes, will receive the 2020 NIFA Music Legend Award.
The NIFA Awards will be given on May 1 at Lawrence University’s Wriston Art Center Auditorium.
Grammy-winning country artist Neal McCoy won the inaugural music legend award. It’s since been referred to as the Real McCoy Award.
The honor will go aside many others in Travis’ trophy case.
Travis won six CMA awards and 10 AMA awards. He has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and he’s a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame. He’s sold more than 25 million albums.
In addition to the awards, the May 1 event will include world premiere movies, live music and major TV and film announcements.
Tickets start at $20 and can be purchased at thefilmforte.com.
