Whether it was the cheese samples, arts and crafts or a handcrafted Stone Arch soda, a new event had all the makings of a Downtown Appleton Saturday.

Though not so much a downtown Saturday as expected when the snow still flies.

Appleton Downtown Inc. debuted the Community Public Market at the Fox Cities Exhibition Center on Saturday. The center brought forth the flavor of the outdoor farm markets with produce, live music, activities and handmade goods.

Djuanna Hugdahl, farm market director for ADI, said the first time event had strong traffic.

With ample floor space, organizers gave market goers plenty to experience.

Those who missed out will have two more opportunities.

The markets will also be held March 21 and April 18.
