There are eight and a half hours, seven music stages and 23 bands.

It pays to plan ahead.

Appleton’s biggest party of the year arrives Saturday and with it, the last big chance to spend a day listening to live, outdoor music in the Fox Valley before the cold season takes over.

Octoberfest starts at 9 a.m.

Again, the music menu will be full and diverse in keeping up with the food selection up and down College Avenue.

Hip hop? Too White Crew — 2:30 p.m. at the Division Street stage.

Hair metal? The Glam Band will turn it up to 11 at the Durkee Street stage.

Traditional German Oktoberfest music? Throw on your lederhosen, grab your first beer and get to Houdini Plaza at 9 a.m. for the Newtonburg Brass Band.

The 484th Army Band out of Milwaukee is in the lineup.

Valley favorites Vic Ferrari will again hold down the prime time and location on the WAPL west end stage from 2:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.

Octoberfest will also feature a family stage with karate, juggling music and more.
