Mile of Music fans can at long last begin planning their festival in earnest.
The Downtown Appleton music festival released its preliminary schedule on Thursday. Mile of Music will run from Aug. 1 through 4 and bring 221 artists to Appleton. They’ll perform at 60 venues on or near College Avenue during what will be a four-day weekend for many.
The schedule is available at the Mile of Music website. Festival goers can also download a free mobile app, which is available at App Store and Google Play.
Nicholas Raymond will have the honor of opening the festival with a noon performance on Aug. 1 at Lawrence Memorial Chapel. Dark Honey will have the festival’s first traveling performance aboard the popular Mile of Music bus.
A huge highlight comes Friday when Jones Park returns to the venue list for a debut of its brand new amphitheatre. The Brothers Footman will christen the stage with a performance at 12:35 p.m. The stage will host performances throughout the day. Mile of Music favorites Wild Adriatic will close Friday at Jones Park with a show starting at 9:55 p.m.
In addition to performances, the schedule released Thursday includes more than 50 hands-on music education events.
The Vegabonds will put the wraps on the festival on Sunday Aug. 4 with a 7:25 p.m. performance at the Emmett’s main stage.
