The week ahead carries three big priorities.
First, plan to take your lunch hours along College Avenue. Second, plan meals that are easy to eat on the go. Third, have some cash on the ready.
It’s Street Music Week in Downtown Appleton and it’s one of the key weeks on the entertainment calendar in which everybody wins.
For musicians, it’s an opportunity to grab an audience with only one requirement: show up and play. Audiences will find a variety of a variety of sounds up and down the avenue. Musicians and audiences together will provide for those in need.
It’s the seventh annual event sponsored by Heid Music, and through six years, its raised nearly $16,000 for Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin. This year, they’ve set a high bar and aim to raise $10,000 to fight hunger. Should Street Music Week meet its goal, it means 30,000 meals in our communities.
Musicians interested in contributing their talents simply need to arrive to Heid Music between 11:30 and noon to grab their materials and a location assignment.
In addition to the noon hour, musicians will perform during Friday’s Art on the Town. Volunteers will take donations at Thursday’s Heid Music Summer Concert Series and Saturday’s Downtown Appleton Farm Market.
Give some money for food. Gain a little food for the spirit.
There’s never been a better tradeoff.
